Boats, Baseball Caps and Violins.

All things I have learnt are tricky to draw accurately.

Pleased with this one.

I think it is because they have a symmetry that we all understand, and when you draw them, if you get it even slightly off the eye sees it. Like a twist in a spine. You understand it without needing to analyse it. 

Also.

The paper in this sketch book is very thin and my heavy handed shading can wreak havoc through the pages, as you can see.

But it was only £2 so I still love it.

Arm and Cap

Am back into elbows again, as always.

Liked the way this guy was holding his head in his hand, but he moved the first couple of attempts...

...but happy with the final sketch. Feel I got the cap peak right for a change.

Maybe, somewhere in between all the lines and tries and sketching there is something approaching the truth of him. 

Maybe.

Girl (x3) with friends in high places

She was chatting to, and occasionally photographing, an elderly man in a baseball cap emblazoned with "THE WHITE HOUSE" in gold letter.

But I couldn't get a good angle on him to add into the sketch.

They finished their coffee and left arm in arm.

The cap needed several attempts to pin it down.
