This guy stood reading on the tube, and was so lost in the story he shifted, stepped and maneuvered past the passengers who got on and off around him without ever taking his eyes off the page.
He was reading WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN, which is a great book, and his engrossedness is totally understandable.
He looks very much like my ex-brother-in-law Les...who lives in London somewhere. I love being that engrossed in a book that everything else fades away, don't you? (Altho' I make it a rule never to read a great book and do something dangerous at the same time)

ReplyDeleteI like to operate a circular saw whilst engrossed in an Austin novel. I find it adds a certain 'frisson'. To the sawing.
ReplyDeleteThat's a Fred Austin novel, "Sense and John Deere Tractors" quite a page turner. None of that Austen crap.
