Does this work ?

Hmm. Gonna have to take this out into the field a bit more, but this is where I am thinking at the moment. Following through on the Dufy thing.

Maybe... Hmmm... Thinking...

Eraser + Dufy

Managed to fit a trip to a Dufy Exhibition in the scrum of last november ( thanks Sophie ! ) And at the start it said Dufy believed colour stayed on the retina longer than form. And that has caught in my head, and is probably the basis for what I want to explore here. Early days, let's see where it goes eh ?

Got a bit excited by using erasure at very low opacity in Photoshop just now...

I know, more a shaded sketch than anything Dufy was about... but Rome.. you know...

Plus... great coat Mister !!!

Sunday Colour experiment - 209

So, had time to think a bit, and saw what Laure wrote, so back to the tablet.

Not convinced, not convinced. I think I am just putting colour where I think it should be, rather than looking at the subject and SEEING where it really is. So the whole idea of adding colour to sketches after the event is a bit null and void here. And those rich dark depths are nigh on impossible digitally. Well, for me, at the moment, they are.

But picked up a few interesting bits here, stuff to carry forward. Not letting it go just yet, still things to discover.

Light is, as always, the key. Maybe if I can sneak a photo of the subject after sketching them... Hmmmm. Asbo's here I come.

Cheating - but admitting it.

So this one, right, I drew about four different versions of this guy reading his book. It was a beautiful day, it's like someone switched summer on overnight, everything is moving in the gardens, everything has that almost fresh green feel, and everyone have left their coats at home, hurrah !
So sketching with a weird energy, and it shows, and drew this guy again and again, but not one drawing I liked. Liked bits of this one, and the head of that one...
So have photoshopped them all together into this amalgam of a drawing.
I don't think that's cheating, and anyway I make the rules around here. But in the spirit of total disclosure befitting a time of political election...

Not a lot to say about the subject though, he was so lost in his book, turning the pages back on themselves. I was grateful for his stillness, but gleaned very little of his world.
