Back

Life Drawing.

Always enjoy a good back, especially one as animated as this one.

Sometimes you get it all right and a drawing just comes together and works.

Dull Boy

So it was all work and no play last year, and am guilty as charged.

Time to claw this back from the brink of extinction and revive it's fortunes. With a last chance posting  on the very toehold of January.

The Physical

Seeing, and aiming for, the physical weight of the body. Trying to feel it through the paint. Weight.

Sit down, take the weight off...

Someone referred to this as the one where she is wearing shin pads.

I can see his point.

Foot rub

This was part of a pose from life drawing the other day. Wasn't sure what to draw so focused on the hands holding the foot. Not what I intended to draw, have flattened the image out too graphic, but kind of like it anyway.

Torsos

Been following an idea of the way classical sculptures have been eroded by time/weather/man to the partial forms we see in museums. Of carrying that image across to life drawing.

Not there yet but here are a couple from along the recent way.

Mea Culpa, and Happy new year

Head hung in shame for abandoning this for so long.

Blame Life
Blame Work
Blame Candy Crush Soda

Helicopters

Back to Hendon for more sketching.

Helicopters caught my eye. Didn't draw the one I first saw as there were no benches near it and I forgot to take my stool.

But these ones were handy.

I like how the small orange one looks pensive and anxious. That, a mate told me, is because the big red one has got the hump with it and is giving it the silent treatment. Look at the expressions on their faces.

Which reminds me... I got into a debate on the difference between anthropomorphism and pathetic fallacy the other day....
