Waiting for a new year

Some folk who were standing around me on the Thames Embankment on New Year's Eve, waiting for 2012 to roll in, and the fireworks to start.

Killing the time by sketching ( me ), texting, taking ( very bad ) photos of the wheel, getting slowly drunk on rum, listening for the countdown on the radio and shoving a pushchair into my ankles.

In the Hood

Red Riding and Robin knew a thing or two.

There ain't nothing like a hood for comfort. Forget the modern connotations, hoods offer protection from the world, from it's weather and inquisitiveness and presence.

Just ask any medieval monk.

'cos when you/re in there the world is blinkered out and it's just you... and your headphones and text messages.

These two know this all to well, and are going for the extra belt and braces of an umbrella, just in case.

Half a face

This guy had a great face, very angular. But he was very conscious of me sketching and was very unsettled by it, so I stopped, but looking at it later I really like it.

Despite being only half a face.

I hope he doesn't mind.

This year's sensation

We've all been hooked by the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, ( in at least one of it's many versions ).

And are ravenously eager for more.

Well the wait is over, because I give you...

... the Girl with three bobbles on her hat.

01.01 01 01 2012

No, I'm not posting in binary, this sketch was done at one minute past one this morning, on the platform of Farringdon station, ( which is how I know what time it was ) waiting for the last train home.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE
